Pepper Tree has done it again with this Limited Release Cabernet, crafted from the best rows of their small vineyard in Coonawarra. Known for its thin rocky soils and crumbly limestone, this region produces beautifully balanced vines and bold, flavour-packed fruit.
This wine is all about delicate black and red fruits, a sprinkle of spice, and floral notes, all tied together with a fine structure. After 15 months in French oak, it’s drinking beautifully now but will only get better with time in the cellar.
Selected from the best rows off their small vineyard, this quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet has all the hallmarks of this classic style. A lifted nose of dried herbs, bay leaf and bramble leads into a rich palate of cassis, cocoa and blackberry. The fruit weight is well supported by fine, silky tannins and natural, bright acidity. A wine to be enjoyed now that will improve with short term cellaring.
The colour is excellent, and the palate overflows with blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit, soft tannins adding to both the length of the palate and the immediate appeal of the wine. Firm tannins with vibrantly dry cassis. Bracing structure that refuses to wallow and become populist, always remaining aristocratically piercing and mouth watering. Beautiful wine.
