The ancient sands and Mediterranean climate of Blewitt Springs are home to this SIngle Vineyard Grenache. Single Vineyard wines are created by selecting the best vineyard site and barrel parcels of that particular vintage. This Grenache is bright in colour with the aromas and flavours of cherries, rhubarb, white pepper and ironstone, finishing with fine French Oak tannins.
As a single vineyard Grenache from the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale, this is a terrific example of this variety and even better, it is cracking value. It has that appealing savoury red-fruited nature to it with notes of warm earth, fresh herbs in the sun, leather and raspberries. There is juicy acidity and the palate exhibits a hint of roast meat. The wine has very good length and finishes with fine, if ever-so-slightly gritty tannins. This is light on its feet – in a good way. There’s a touch of alcohol warmth to this wine but it’s otherwise a delightful drink in a light, elegant style.
