Gumpara Frieda's Old Vine Semillon 2019 is a Barossa Valley Semillon known for its flinty nose with floral nuances and a clean, lean palate with grapefruit-like flavours. It's made from fruit sourced from the oldest dry-grown vines, planted almost 90 years ago, which are a rare Madeira clone.
The Gumpara Vineyard situated in the Light Pass district of the Barossa Valley has been cared for by the Mader family for 7 generations. This is a limited release, single vineyard wine made from Semillon grapes planted in 1925. The grapes have been picked early to make a fresh, crisp dry white wine showing excellent varietal character.
A very special wine – one of the best whites you will find from the Barossa.
Colour: A rich golden colour.
Aroma: Impressive primary fruits, with a touch of lemon.
Palate: Tropical fruit and lime flavours with well balanced acidity. The grapes have been picked early to make a fresh, crisp dry white wine showing excellent varietal character.
Food Pairing: Fresh fish, prawns, crabs and oysters or dishes including butter-based sauces, poultry or pork, and creamy curries.
