Golden Amrita Sunshine Hill Shiraz 2021

Deep rich colour. A rich aroma of ripe blackberry and plum fruit characters, sweet cedar oak spice and a hint of aniseed. The palate is richly flavoured with ripe fruits, dark chocolate and liquorice characters and some sweet oak flavours leading to a long finish of firm, powdery tannins. A wine that can be enjoyed young for its plushness and vitality but that will age gracefully for 10 or more years if cellared well.

The Sunshine Hill Shiraz is a blend of our Greenock and Moppa vineyards. Both vineyards have vines a little over 25 years of age. The individual batches of these vineyards are aged separately in predominantly 1-3 year old French and American oak, plus a small percentage of new oak, for 18 months prior to blending and bottling.

When the Liu family first visited the Barossa Valley in search of high quality vineyards they were enamoured with the brightness of the sunshine and the clear luminescent moonlit nights which made them fall in love with the area.

The name of the town of Greenock which is near both of the vineyards comes from the Gaelic meaning Sunny Hill. This combined with the Liu families love of the Barossa sunshine led to the naming of the wine Sunshine Hill.

This is a very well crafted and balanced wine, a plushness running throughout, fine tannins and good acidity. Exciting stuff and it should remain so for a good eight to ten years. It really is fabulous value.

Colour:  Inky maroon hue.

Aroma: A polished powerful wine with an intense yet lovely meaty herbal nose and notes of chocolate, mocha, cloves, coffee grinds, liquorice and soy.

Palate: The palate is full and broad with depth, complexity and a silky mouthfeel. Plum, black olive, new oak and cedar notes sing in harmony. Absolutely outstanding.

Food Pairing:  Perfect with a T Bone steak or a cheese platter.
