The Old Man Eden Valley Syrah is a powerful and rich 95 point wine, made as a homage to an inspirational father. A unique wine with soft velvety tannins driven by lingering acidity, the wine is a ball of flavour, delicious in nature, and very much a fruit-driven expression of the Eden Valley.
This Syrah was picked at optimum ripeness at around 13.5-14 Baume with 20% whole bunches remaining in the fermentation. The fruit was held at 10-15 degrees for 2 days before being allowed to warm and naturally start fermentation. After 8 days on skins and gentle daily hand plunging, the wine was pressed to 90% seasoned, and 10% New French oak 500L puncheons, where it matured for 15 months. No fining or filtration was used on this wine.

Palate: The palate is elegant with plum, red berries, and spice, with fine velvety tannins and incredible texture.
Food Pairing: This full-bodied red wine has plenty of structure and depth, making it the perfect companion for rich and hearty dishes. Think Italian pasta dishes with tomato based sauces!
