Winemaking Notes

While Huntington Cabernet leads the way in the Trophy and Medal tally, it is Huntington Shiraz that often wins the hearts of our customers. As smooth and as fruity as you’d expect from the variety; the fine tannins are well managed to provide structure and length as well as the ability to age. Mudgee produces outstanding Shiraz in both the warm and cool years.

Daryl

Not as heavy as a Barrosa shiraz. Very smooth and tastes nice and aged

David

Very rich and intense. Unique blackberry flavour's. Dark vibrant hue. This is amazing wine to pair with a big steak of roast beef.

The Huntington Estate Special Reserve range is only released when conditions are deemed optimal by owner / winemaker Tim Stevens and team. This 2015 release reflects both regional varietal characters and ideal climatic conditions. Rich, ripe [but not jammy] generous fruit in the redberry range co-mingle with mixed herbs and spices both on the nose and palate.
This is all admirably supported by a framework of fine tannin astrigency and grippy acid to deliver a fulsome long-palate journey. This power-house Special Reserve Shiraz will reward some cellaring.

The Wine Reviewer - Professional

The usual quality one would expect from this label, a fully resolved nose that ties brambly plum fruits with bracken and a suppleness of sweeter American Oak that has fine coffee tones. Steeped in plum and blackberry fruits, yet wrapped in generously supple mocha oak; tannins are present but support rather than detract. There is a milk chocolate richness on the mid palate before fine lines and length are afforded to the finish by precise lines of acidity and driving blackberry fruit. Drinking well now, but will age well.
